CANDLEHOLDER MR BOGEYMAN II.
A candleholder in the form of a bogeyman with a skull-like head, made of light clay and decorated with lavender engobe and a transparent glaze. A single-candle holder was once a household essential — ready to accompany you anywhere (yes, even to the bathroom) and bring a soft circle of light in which you might read before sleep, sit and think in an armchair, or enjoy a late dinner. If there is such a thing as a “standard candle size,” that’s exactly the one that fits into the Bogeyman, set a bit deeper to hold securely in place.
While the skull is often associated with death, transience, and memento mori, in art it can also carry positive meanings — especially when held. Choose the meaning of the skull for your Bogeyman: wisdom and knowledge / enlightenment and spiritual transformation / strength and triumph over death / reincarnation and the cycle of life / gratitude and reverence for ancestors.

Each object is made as a one-of-a-kind piece. Creating an identical one wouldn’t be possible — nor something I’d want to try. If the piece is sold but you still feel you must have it, please get in touch. It’s always possible to make a similar one to order. The process and delivery may take some time — I kindly ask for your patience. But once it’s yours, it will be forever, so a few weeks of waiting might be worth it.
